Central Florida family says their Yorkie survived backyard alligator attack

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — A Central Florida family said their dog was attacked in their backyard by an alligator and the little Yorkie somehow got away.

Owners said the dog named Zoe managed to break free after being pulled into a nearby lake by an alligator.

Thomas Gordon, 12, said he was taking the dog out in the Bay Isle community in Winter Garden when the attack occurred.

Thomas said he ran inside to get his dad for help.

“After about 10 seconds we came back out and apparently Zoe got out of the grip of the gator,” he said. “She was climbing up the pond with her injuries.

Zoe managed to break free walking away with only minor wounds.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission said a gator trapper removed a 4-foot 10-inch gator from the pond at the end of the week.
