Police: Man who thought he was meeting teen for sex found with condoms, knife

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man is in jail without bail on charges of trying to meet who he thought was someone's 14-year-old daughter for sex in an Orlando park, investigators said.

However, the teen was really an undercover detective. Police said Gregory James had met the undercover agent online.

Agents said they confronted James, 33, when he arrived at Bill Frederick Park in Dr. Phillips, and he was found with condoms, pepper spray and a knife.

The story alarmed parents WFTV talked to at the park Wednesday night.

“Sounded like he had a plan, and thank goodness the plan ended up in the right person’s hands and he was arrested,” said parent Ken Scott. "It makes me sick."

Police said James had never been arrested in Orange County.

The charges he's now facing could mean up to 15 years behind bars if he's convicted.
