Police investigate robbery in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police said three suspects have been caught after a robbery near downtown early Saturday morning.

According to investigators, the robbery happened around 2:30 a.m. near E. Washington Street in the Thornton Park area. The suspects demanded the victim's wallet, pistol whipped him and fired one shot into the air. The victim suffered minor injuries, officials said.

Police said the suspects fled in a stolen vehicle, which was spotted by officers near John Young Parkway and Princeton Street a short time later. A pursuit ensued and officers followed the suspects into Seminole County, where they crashed into a ditch on State Road 436, police said.

The suspects got out of the car and fled on foot, but were captured and arrested shortly after. Investigators said they are working to connect the men to the Thornton Park robbery and possibly similar crimes in other areas.

The suspects' names were not released and police said charges are pending.
