Man sought after carjacking woman at knifepoint outside shopping center

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A man carjacked a woman at knifepoint as she was leaving a Kissimmee shopping center, just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, Osceola County Sheriff's investigators said.

Investigators said surveillance cameras at a T.J. Maxx store caught images of the man entering the store, just before the incident.

The woman told investigators she had just left the store when the man got into the passenger side of her car with a knife.

"He told her to drive to the nearest bank," said Twis Lizasuain of the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said the woman told the man she is not a local and does not have a bank in the area.

"A struggle ensued and she was able to get away," said Lizasuain.

The man then drove away in her car, which was later found nearly 22 miles away behind a Goodyear on South Orange Blossom Trail near Interstate 4.

"There's not that many people just wandering around in the parking lot or anything," said Phillips Rossignolo, who works in the shopping center. "To think that someone, just at knifepoint, got robbed here, that's crazy."

Investigators believe the man might be from the Orlando area, because of where he left the woman's car.
