Osceola paramedic accused of shoving Polk deputy

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla.,None — An Osceola County paramedic is accused of shoving a Polk County deputy after a mentally ill man called him a slur meaning a gay man, WFTV learned on Friday.

According to the police report, Jarred Stroup lunged at the man and shoved Deputy Debra Martin, who had gotten between the two men.

Officials said Stroup is on paid administrative leave, pending an internal investigation.

He's charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct.
