Palm Coast businesses evacuated after munition brought to Sheriff's Office

PALM COAST, Fla. — A munition brought to the Palm Coast district office of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office led to multiple businesses being evacuated Saturday afternoon, deputies said.

A Palm Coast resident brought the munition to the office on Cypress Point Parkway, causing deputies to empty businesses in the Palm Coast City Marketplace.

The St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad picked up the munition and transported it to St. John’s County to be disposed of properly.

Businesses reopened around 3 p.m. once that occurred.

Deputies said they are actively searching the area near where the munition was found to ensure there is no other ordnance on the site.

“If you find something that you aren’t sure of, call the Sheriff’s Office and let us determine the next course of action. Do not touch it,” Rick Staly, Flagler County sheriff, said.
