Pepper spray released in bus filled with elementary school students

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A ride to school almost turned into a trip to the hospital for more a group of elementary school students in Orange County.

The children were on their way to school Thursday morning when pepper spray was released on the bus.

The driver pulled over on Murdock Boulevard and English Street in Union Park with the bus full of Riverdale Elementary School children.

No injuries were reported.

The district said the children were checked out and taken to school, but now they have to figure out how the pepper spray was released.

The driver had picked up all of the children on the route to Riverdale Elementary School. There were 46 students on board when the incident occurred.

Another bus picked the children up to get them to school.

Parent Paulette Bosch said, "I was watching you guys on the news this morning and saw there was a bus on English and Murdock, and, OK, my daughter, I just put her on the school bus, so I drove over here quick to find the bus here."

District officials said administrators are interviewing students to get to the bottom of the situation.
