Person shoots driver of other car during Sanford chase

SANFORD, Fla. — A man is in the hospital after a shooting that led to a two-county car chase, Sanford police said.

Police said the unidentified victim was driving one car while a second vehicle chased after him.

The driver of the first car was shot on his left side.

The car then crashed near Country Club Drive and Country Club Circle in Sanford.

That's when someone in a third vehicle picked up the victim, and investigators said they stopped that car in Volusia County.

"We saw a vehicle being pulled over at the time. There was three individuals in the car. Two were apprehended, another was injured in a shooting," said witness Joshua Claxton.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are still gathering information about the vehicles and people involved.
