Philadelphia shooting suspect arrested in Titusville

TITUSVILLE, Fla. — A man considered armed and dangerous and on the run from Philadelphia was captured in Titusville Wednesday.

He was wanted in connection with the shooting of a cab driver.

The U.S. Marshals Service told Channel 9's Melonie Holt that it had received information that Paul Leavy had associates in the Titusville area.

Members of the agency's Florida Regional Task Force and the Brevard County Sheriff's Office's Game Over Task Force tracked Leavy to a Titusville address.

Investigators said Leavy didn't resist officers when he was tracked down at an apartment complex on Tree Lane.

The Philadelphia Police Department believes Leavy is involved in the shooting of a cab driver on June 27. The driver was shot in the hand.

He faces charges of robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon, as well as related charges.

"They jumped out with the K-9s, went to the back of the apartment complex. About 10 minutes, later they came out with their man," said a man who witnessed the arrest.

Philadelphia police said they will work with local authorities to get Leavy from the Brevard County Jail back to Philadelphia.
