Pickup truck crashes into Deltona home

DELTONA, Fla. — Authorities are investigating after a pickup truck crashed into a Deltona home late Sunday night.

Witness Beverton Deslandes said he was in his home when the crash happened around 8 p.m. on Blackburn Avenue.

"I heard a big explosion, so I came out," Deslandes said.

According to investigators, the pickup truck driver swerved off the road, and drove behind two homes before hitting a third. Officials haven't said why the woman lost control of the vehicle.

The residents who live in the damaged home said they had just sat down for dinner when the truck plowed into the back of the house.

"We were scared. We were scared, we were screaming, we were yelling. Thank God the neighbors came out immediately. They stayed with us until the police got here," said a resident of the home, who did not give her name.

No one inside the house was injured, but the driver of the truck was airlifted to Halifax hospital. Her name was not released.

The residents told WFTV they're waiting for an insurance adjuster to survey the damage.
