Pizza delivery man leaves racist rant on Sanford customer's phone

SANFORD, Fla. — Two Papa John's employees are out of a job Tuesday after being fired because of a voice mail that was accidentally left for a customer.

Employee 1: "Did they tip you?"

Employee 2: "Not at all."

Employee 1: "I feel the only requirement for being a (explicit) is to tip. They tip you 5 bucks, period."

The Sanford customer posted video on YouTube with audio from a conversation left on his voice mail.

In the phone call, two employees talk about a tip for a pizza delivery and repeatedly use racial slurs and sing and laugh.

Papa John's pizza chairman and CEO John Schnatter said online that he has been in contact with the customers and offered a personal apology. He also posted an apology on Facebook, reading, "I am very sorry that anyone would be exposed to these hurtful and painful words by any person involved in any way with our company."

The statement also said that the employees were fired and their actions and thinking are not the same as the company's.

The customer who posted the video showed he did in fact tip 21 percent of the total purchase.
