Police: 1 dead in Ormond Beach crash that injured 2 children

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — One person died Sunday evening in a crash that injured five people, including two children, the Ormond Beach Police Department said.

The crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. at South Atlantic Avenue and River Beach Drive, Ormond Beach police Officer Keith Walker said.

The crash caused a portion of the road to be closed for several hours, Walker said.

No one has been publicly identified.

A witness told Channel 9 that a motorist was driving erratically when the person's car collided with another and spun out.

Another vehicle was also involved, the witness said.

Firefighters said at least one person was flown to a hospital.

Both the Ormond Beach Fire Department and Volusia County Fire Rescue responded to the crash, which remains under investigation.

No other details were given.
