1 dead, another injured in Orlando apartment shooting

ORLANDO, Fla. — A gunman is on the run after shooting two people outside an Orlando apartment complex Tuesday night, police said.

The shooting happened at the Serrano apartments on the 4800 block of Cypress Woods Drive near Conroy Road.

Jacob Almond, 19, of Oviedo died of a gunshot wound to the chest.

One resident who did not want to be identified said, "It was like four or five, 'Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!' It was like execution style."

The resident ran to help Almond and said he tried to keep him alive, but that Almond was near death. The resident said officers, "Frantically tried to keep him alive."

"The guy was yelling, 'Help me! Help me!' I mean, what can you do? You do what you got to do. You don't really think about what could happen to you," he said.

The victims  were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where Almond later died.

Neighbors said they watched two men leave the parking lot of the apartment complex in a van and drive through the Summer Gate condominiums across the street. A few minutes later, they said they heard a second set of gunfire.

But so far, there were no reports of another shooting.

Police said there is no information on a suspect.
