Police: 2 injured, one critically, in pickup truck-school bus crash in Ocoee

OCOEE, Fla. — A school bus crash Thursday in Ocoee left two people injured, including a student, authorities said.

The crash was reported at about 6:10 a.m. at the intersection of Clarcona Ocoee Road near Apopka Vineland Road in Ocoee.

The bus involved in the crash is from a private school and not from the county.

The road was shut down for several hours, but it has since reopened.

Officers said another school bus was picking up students in the west lane, and the private school bus stopped to wait.

Police said a pickup truck crashed into the back of the private school bus.

Ocoee police said the driver of the pickup was trapped inside and crews had to cut the person out. Officers said the driver was alert and talking.

The driver of the pickup truck was airlifted to the hospital.

A teenager with minor injuries on the school bus was taken to a hospital.

The bus driver was unharmed.

Police said the driver of the pickup truck, whose name was not released, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
