Police: Armed carjacker surrenders after barricading self in Orlando apartment

An armed carjacking suspect barricaded himself in an Orlando apartment Saturday evening, officials said.

The unidentified man carjacked someone on Florida’s Turnpike in Lake County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the man surrendered to law enforcement shortly after 8 p.m.

Orlando police said a chase ensued into Orlando and the suspect forced himself into a residence at the Middlebrook Pines apartments near Conroy and Middlebrook roads.

Officers said two residents were inside the apartment with the suspect.

The two people have since been released from the apartment.

Police said the suspect entered through a window.

No other information was released.
