Police: Armed robber removes bucket hat, T-shirt while fleeing Dollar General near downtown Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — A man armed with a handgun robbed a Dollar General Monday evening near downtown, the Orlando Police Department said.

The robber barged into the store on South Orange Blossom Trail south of West Gore Street shortly before 8:45 p.m. and took money from a cash register, police spokeswoman Michelle Guido said.

Surveillance footage showed the robber leaning over a counter and pointing a gun at a worker, Guido said.

Police said the robber took off his bucket hat and T-shirt and threw them on the ground while fleeing the store.

K9 units were used to try to track the man, but he remains at large.

Investigators said the man might have fled in a vehicle.

No one was injured.

The incident remains under investigation.

No other details were given.
