Police: Casselberry man used Grindr app to track down, have sex with teen

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. — A 23-year-old Casselberry man was arrested and charged with sexual battery involving a 13-year-old boy, Winter Springs police said.

Police said they arrested Stephen Scott Albertson Tuesday at his job at Pizza Hut.

Albertson met the teen on a popular social media website called Grindr, and said Albertson engaged in multiple sex acts with the teen, police said.

Police were able to arrest the suspect after the victim told them he worked as a shift manager and delivery driver at a Pizza Hut.

In court Wednesday, Albertson’s public defender asked the judge not to read all his charges.

“I would just ask the court to proceed with setting bond. We don’t need to inform everyone what the charges are, he knows what they are, I know what they are, and the court knows what they are,” the attorney said.

Albertson has been charged with sexual battery of a victim aged 12-18, obscene communication involving use of a computer/electronic device to solicit a minor, obscene communication involving traveling to meet a minor.

Police said Albertson brought the 13-year-old boy to Tradewinds and Moss roads in Winter Springs where the two had sex.

The boy went home and told his parents, who called police.

Police said the victim didn’t know the suspect’s real name, but called him “Pizza Hut” because that’s where he worked.

Police went to the Pizza Hut store in Casselberry and provided the store manager with a photo the boy had of the suspect.

The manager was able to identify Albertson.
