Police: Drunken driver crashes into patrol car at scene of fatal crash

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Melbourne police said a drunken driver was arrested after he crashed into a patrol car at the scene of a fatal accident.

Officers responded to the original crash about 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Eau Gallie Boulevard and Wickham Road.

A woman driving an SUV was pronounced dead at the scene and another driver was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center where she later died, according to police.

While investigating the crash, police said Duane Wilson plowed his Toyota into a Melbourne police officer’s patrol car.

Officers said Wilson was driving under the influence and was arrested.

Both cars were heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
