Police: Drunken woman crashes car into Palm Bay home

PALM BAY, Fla. — A drunken driver crashed into a Palm Bay home Monday and then drove away, police said.

Authorities said they arrested Paige Oak, 50, after she crashed into the home on Dallam Avenue.

A witness said Oak backed out of the home and then hit another vehicle that was across the street.

The homeowner, who did not want to be identified, said he was still awake when the driver of the Jeep crashed through the home.

“I was looking down the hallway at my son's room and the wall imploded,” he said. “I was more or less just worried about my son at that point.”

His 10-year-old son was unharmed in another bedroom, but he told him to stay put until help arrived.

A neighbor said it was like a scene out of a movie.

"(We were) half asleep. The next thing, we hear a big ‘boom!’ And we run to investigate; me and my sons. Such a loud noise. We ran to the front door. We couldn't believe we saw a truck in our neighbor's house," said neighbor Cornel Chambers.

Police said she abandoned the car after she got stuck. Oak was found nearby and was arrested.

Oak faced a judge Monday, who set her bail at $100,000.
