Cops: Man wanted for sexual battery in Kissimmee caught

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A woman was sexually battered at an Ambassador Inn on West Vine Street Thursday, Kissimmee police said.

Police said the man who tried to rape and kill her has been caught  after being on the run.

Police said the woman was staying at the hotel for a few days. While at the property, police said she met Ralph Lee Segar Jr. Police said Segar, 36, was also staying at the hotel.

Early Thursday morning, police said Segar attempted to sexually batter the victim, and she was bludgeoned by him.

A witness, who did not want to be identified, told WFTV it was a particularly disturbing scene, with a lot of blood.

The victim ran from her room just before 5 a.m. and left bloody handprints on the motel's office door and the night buzzer.

There was also blood on the payphone where she called 911.

"As soon as I saw all the lights, all that, I came down and saw it was her room. I went right to the ambulance banging on the back door find out what had happened," said the witness.

The witness said they were shocked because they had only seen the victim an hour before.

First responders on the scene found the woman in Room 205 in critical condition.

The victim was airlifted to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Kissimmee police detectives said they are obtaining an arrest warrant for Segar and charging him with attempted murder and attempted sexual battery.

Officials said Segar has a Pennsylvania driver's license and at least one Florida ID card.

Segar was caught around 6 p.m. Thursday evening.
