U.S. postal worker robbed by two men while on route

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — WFTV learned a U.S. postal worker was robbed by two men Thursday in the middle of an Orlando neighborhood.

Investigators told WFTV's Kenneth Craig the mailman was walking his normal route in the Pine Castle area, off Oak Ridge Road, around lunchtime when he was approached by the two men who claimed to be armed.

Police said the men didn't demand cash; they just wanted all the mail and packages he was carrying.

The mail carrier handed over the mail, and the men took off, police said. The mail carrier was not hurt.

"Doing his job and he just gets robbed for his mail? That's just crazy. More crazy are the people who did it," said resident Erica Sosa.

Federal postal inspectors have only a very vague description of two black men who took off in a silver Ford and haven't been seen since.

Postal authorities in Orlando said it's not often they see one of their workers robbed like this.

Investigators said they are still trying to figure out why the victim was targeted.

Investigators said the victim is working with the sheriff's office to create a composite sketch.

WFTV is working to get more details.
