Police: Man committed lewd acts on child during burglary

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Kissimmee police said a man broke in to a house and tried to fondle a girl on Sunday.

The attack happened early in the morning, in the Orange Gardens subdivision.

Police said the man walked into a bedroom and committed lewd acts on a young girl.

Investigators said they had hoped that they might be able to identify the man without going to the public. But now they are asking for the public's help in identifying the man.

"I've never seen this guy before, not around here, or any place," said neighbor John Pryor, when shown a composite sketch of the man.

Pryor said he hopes someone else in the neighborhood does recognize the man.

"When someone can walk in your home at 2 o'clock in the morning and assaults children, or anybody as far as that goes, the community needs to get together and see what can be done to protect themselves and their families," said Pryor.

"Was he looking for something in the house, or did he just target this child?" WFTV reporter Melonie Holt asked Stacie Miller of the Kissimmee Police Department.

"We don't know at this point, but it appears that nothing is missing from the home," said Miller.

And while the victims continue to take an inventory, police are circulating the man's sketch.

The burglar is described as a white or Hispanic man, between the ages of 18 and 22. He is 5'7" to 5'9" tall, and is thin with wavy brown hair.

He was wearing a blue Polo shirt, dark blue jeans and brown work boots.
