Police: Man fatally struck by train in Holly Hill

HOLLY HILL, Fla. — A man was fatally struck by a train early Tuesday, the Holly Hill Police Department said.

The man was standing on the railroad tracks at 3rd Street shortly after 1 a.m. when he was hit, Holly Hill police Chief Stephen Aldrich said.

“It was reported by the train conductor that the unidentified male was standing on the tracks facing the train at the intersection of 3rd Street,” Aldrich said. “The conductor said the male never attempted to move out of the way and was struck.”

The train was released at about 4:30 a.m., Aldrich said.

The man wasn’t publicly identified.

His death remains under investigation.

More details were expected to be released Tuesday afternoon, police said.
