Police: Man sets Orlando home on fire with 3 people inside

ORLANDO, Fla. — A 51-year-old man in Orange County is accused of trying to burn down a house with three people still inside.

When firefighters showed up to the home on Ravenall Avenue shortly after 5 a.m. Thursday, it was fully engulfed in flames.

Police said Terry Wright turned himself in and confessed to setting the home on fire.

In court Friday, state prosecutors argued he should stay in jail because he confessed to arson.

“The state is requesting that you maintain no bond at this time based on defendant’s confession that he was upset and set fire to the curtains inside the house, aware (that) the house was occupied,” an attorney said.

Fire officials said three people were inside the home and that Wright was angry because one of them borrowed his car and didn’t give it back.

A notice on the door said the house has been condemned.

Wright was granted a $105,000 bond.

Records show he’s been arrested in the past for battery and burglary.
