Police: Man shot, killed during party in DeLand

DELAND, Fla. — A man was shot to death and two others were injured, during a large house party in DeLand early Sunday morning, according to investigators.

DeLand police are investigating the shooting that happened at a home on S. Clara Avenue around 3:30 a.m Sunday.

Investigators said a fight broke out and someone opened fire.

When officers arrived at the scene, Jamel Simmons, 24, was found lying in the street. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died, police said.

Investigators said the woman, whose name was not released, was treated at the hospital for a gunshot wound.

Another man was injured during a fight, police said.

A suspect description was not released.
