Man accused of burning woman, carjacking, and burglary arrested

LAKELAND, Fla. — Lakeland police have arrested the man who is accused of severely burning a woman on Friday.

Police said 32-year-old Joshua Kimbrough is also responsible for a carjacking and burglary that took place Friday evening.

Police were called to a home on the 1100 block of Stella Avenue around 7:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a female with burns.

The 26-year-old victim was found with severe burns to her body, according to police. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and is in critical condition, officials said.

Although police have not said what caused the woman's burns, investigators believe Kimbrough is responsible.

After the initial incident, Kimbrough allegedly carjacked a beige van at the Fast Stop Store on East Memorial Boulevard. In addition to the carjacking, police said Kimbrough burglarized a home on Fenton Lane.

After following up on multiple leads, detectives were able to locate Kimbrough and take him into custody Saturday morning. During the incident, Kimbrough was bitten by two K-9 dogs. He will be charged once he is treated and released from the hospital, according to police.
