Police search for man seen placing skimmer on New Smyrna Beach ATM

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Authorities are investigating a rash of thieves placing skimmer devices on ATMs.

The latest case involves a man placing a skimmer on an ATM at a Publix in New Smyrna Beach.

Police said he put it there Saturday morning and came back several hours later to check on it.

Police found the device after victims noticed money missing from their bank accounts.

Police said the victims' information was used several times in West Palm Beach and Tamarac.

Authorities believe the man seen in surveillance video, placing the skimmer, could be linked to other locations where skimmers were discovered.
