Missing New Smyrna Beach Alzheimer's patient found

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — New Smyrna Beach police spent Wednesday searching for a missing Alzheimer's patient.

Police said Carla Floyd Doerr was last seen leaving her home around 6 a.m. Wednesday.

According to police, she left the house driving a white Toyota Highlander SUV.

Investigators believe, because of her Alzheimer's, that Doerr thought Wednesday was Thanksgiving and headed to a family member's home in Winter Park.

Police said she contacted her brother in Winter Park, but he said he said he had not seen her.

Late Wednesday afternoon police said the woman showed up at her brother's house.
