Police stay tight-lipped on Orlando nightclub shooting

ORLANDO, Fla. — Nearly 48 hours after a deadly shooting inside an Orlando club that killed two people and injured nearly a dozen others, police have not released any information about suspects.

Channel 9’s Ty Russell took concerns about the club’s safety to city leaders.

Russell found out from the owner’s nephew that the owner was at the Super Bowl on Sunday and will be in California the rest of the week.

Russell asked city leaders if they plan to take any action.

“That’s a very good question, but I don’t have all the information concerning the incident,” said Commissioner Samuel Ings.

Glitz Ultra Lounge on Universal Boulevard is in his district.

Bullets went flying Sunday morning, injuring nearly a dozen and killing two.

“It’s a tragic situation” Ings said.

State records show Apopka resident Satey McKnight owns the club under the Dimaggio’s Ultra Lounge Corporation.

McKnight didn’t answer Russell’s calls.

“No, I have not spoken to the club owners, and yes, I have heard of the incidents before, but this has been in past years,” Ings said.

Russell asked county workers for a list of previous incidents and violations, but is still waiting on those records.

Orlando Police Chief John Mina said it wasn’t a random act of violence, but police have released few details about the case.

Detectives said they have suspects in the case, but will not release more information.

They said they are reviewing video and still interviewing witnesses.

About 300 people were at the club when the shooting happened.
