Police: Teen was racing when he struck, killed Lake Mary woman

Nearly one month after a 31-year-old Lake Mary woman was hit and killed, a teenage boy is under arrest for her death.

Priya Pachauri was run over on Dec. 8 by a pickup truck on Lake Emma Boulevard.

Police said on Friday that the driver of the truck, Madhay Sood, was racing another car.

Police said he had three other teenagers with him when his truck careened off the road, taking out a section of the railing.

Pachauri had been walking on the road when she was hit that morning.

Police said Sood has been racing another vehicle when he lost control, crossed the median and slammed into Pachauri before plowing through a section of railing.

Police said none of the four teens inside the pickup truck were injured when the vehicle rolled and landed upside down.

After detectives were able to confirm that Sood had been behind the wheel, he was taken to a juvenile justice center and charged with vehicular homicide.

A friend of Pachauri’s husband said her husband is in India, where the couple had moved from five years ago.
