Police: Thieves hit strip mall casino, steal surveillance video

OCALA, Fla. — Burglars are accused of ripping off a strip mall casino in Ocala.

The theft happened Monday morning at the Pine Internet Café on South Pine Avenue next door to the Ocala Police Department.

According to the casino manager, the thieves stole a safe, start-up cash and the video from the establishment's surveillance cameras.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry, but they believe the crooks may have removed an electric meter and gotten in through a back door.

"The alarm company never really did report it to us. The next morning, when the folks came in, they found that they had been burglarized," said Ocala Police Sgt. Chas Maier.

Police said they still haven't ruled out the possibility that the crime was committed by someone familiar with the business.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
