MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - A southern New Jersey woman says she was mistaken for a prostitute at a Miami hotel earlier this year, but that wasn't the worst of it.
Anna Burgese says in a lawsuit filed in federal court that a group of women she believes were prostitutes attacked her in the lobby of South Beach's W Hotel in January. She claims she was slammed into a wall and thrown to the ground, and the hotel staff let the assailants get away.
The lawsuit filed last Friday accuses the hotel of offering a "prostitute-friendly environment" and of failing to protect its guests.
Attorney Lance Rogers says Burgese and her husband are on vacation abroad and unable to comment.
Rogers says the hotel hasn't yet responded to the lawsuit.
