Quick-thinking police officer refuses to give up, saves life of dying 3-year-old boy

GRANBURY, Texas — When a frantic mother and father called 911 from a Granbury, Texas, KFC, they told the dispatcher that their 3-year-old son was unresponsive and not breathing.

The 911 operator dispatched EMS, but it was going to take a few minutes to get there.

By chance, Granbury officer Chase Miller happened to be scanning the EMS channel and realized he was driving by the restaurant at that very moment and quickly pulled into the parking lot.

Dashcam footage of the incident shows the boy’s mother holding his limp body before Miller takes him into his arms and carefully places him on the ground.

The mother was sobbing as the officer started performing CPR on the boy.

In the videl, Miller called the father over and told him how to help him continue while he runs to his cruiser to grab a CPR mask.

Miller continued performing CPR without ceasing, even though the child was not responding.

Despite this, Miller doesn’t stop and can be seen in the footage continuing chest compressions on the boy until finally, he takes a breath.

The 3-year-old’s obviously relieved parents, with tears in their eyes, looked as if they couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

Miller was given a Life Saving Award during the Granbury City Council meeting Tuesday.

The boy and his parents attended, and after learning the child’s favorite TV show was “Paw Patrol” and his favorite character was Chase, Miller gave him a stuffed animal of the dog to remember him by.

Miller and the boy hugged as his parents watched and cried.
