Quilt made from husband's Army uniform stolen from widow's doorstep

POINCIANA, Fla. — A Polk County woman who lost her husband in Afghanistan endured another loss – a keepsake quilt made of his old uniform and clothing.

They had been married for just seven months when Brittany Frazier got the devastating news.

Her husband, Army Sgt. Daniel Frazier, had been killed in Afghanistan.

That was in 2009. For the last four years, she's gathered and surrounded herself with his Army belongings, like his Purple Heart, to keep his memory alive.

"Everybody that ever knew him and everybody that ever met him, loved him," Frazier said.

Not sure what to do with his Army clothing and uniform, Frazier decided earlier this year to hand them over to an Army mom in Wisconsin who knew how to turn the clothes into a quilt.

Quilt-maker Lucy Salerno said she pieced the precious memories together for months.

"It had pictures of their wedding, it had pictures of him in Afghanistan. It's a real personal, personal thing," Salerno said.

Salerno said she shipped it off.

Frazier's mail carrier told her she dropped it off at her Poinciana home on July 15.

But she says she never saw it, and right then knew it had to have been stolen from her doorstep – like a nightmare being relived.

"This is something that means nothing to them and it means everything to me," Frazier said.

Frazier said she is devastated and said she's terrified whoever took it tossed it after realizing what was inside.

She's desperately hoping someone has seen the quilt and finds it in their heart to return it.

"I just want it back, that's it. I just want it back," Frazier said.
