Registered sex offender selling soda, candy allegedly touched girl inappropriately

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - Orange County deputies said a registered sex offender, who was selling candy and soda out of his home to children, molested a young girl.

Eddie Carter, 64, was arrested and is accused of inappropriately touching the victim while selling the items.

"They go to his house for candy and cookies and things, and I ain't never known him to be up in there trying to do nothing to nobody," neighbor Anna May Thorton said.

Even though Carter is a registered sex offender, his status allows him to live in the neighborhood, which is full of children. Neighbors said the allegations are hard to believe.

"He is well-liked," Thorton said. "Ain't never had no trouble with him."

In the 1970s and 1980s, Carter was convicted and served time for several counts of sexual battery.

He was charged with lewd and lascivious molestation. Carter has since bonded out of jail.
