Report: Woman steals thousands from company that provides prostheses to veterans

A woman is accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from amputees, including military veterans.
Veterans Affairs said it was able to catch Thaisha Rojas -Burgos funneling that money into her party company, “Lil Angels.”
Investigators believe the company was running on tax dollars and other stolen money.
It’s been nearly two years since money meant for ABC Prosthetics and Orthotics started disappearing.
Although police said Rojas-Burgos managed to hide her thievery for months.
ABC Prosthetics and Orthotics makes the kinds of prostheses ordered up by doctors at the VA and at Orlando Health.
Rojas-Burgos was the bookkeepers who got a call from the VA asking why it was paying thousands of tax dollars to “Lil Angels.”
She resigned that day, claiming she needed to take care of a family member.
But according to a report, a yearlong investigation uncovered a devious network of lies, including a fictitious square payment processing with ABC’s name affiliation and a PayPal account belonging to Lil Angels.
All of it linked back to a home in Orange County.
A woman at the home said Rojas-Burgos had left with her husband and daughter.
She claimed she had no idea how to get in touch with her, or when she’d be back.
Rojas-Burgos’ boss said theft from a small business like hers is hard to stomach around the holidays.
She faces 30 years in prison.
