Universal Studios Orlando power restored after outage

ORLANDO, Fla. — Power to Universal Studios Orlando was restored after reports of a partial power outage were flooding Twitter and Instagram Tuesday night.

A guest at the park took a photo of a long guest services line around 8 p.m.

Universal Studios confirmed there was a power outage at the park. Twitter users were reporting about 75 percent of the park was without power, but that number has not been confirmed by park officials.

OUC said the power outage only affected Universal and said Universal is so big that they are considered one customer.

OUC said there are five feeder lines that come into the property and one of the lines failed.

The cause of the power outage is unknown.

"We had power restored in about an hour.  During that time, we guided guests to areas of the park where they could experience attractions and we added some extra entertainment experiences for them to enjoy.  But again – power has been restored," Tom Schroder of NBC Universal said in an email shortly after 8 p.m.

OUC said there was likely a problem at the meter and said power was out for a little over an hour. Officials said they are trying to determine the exact cause.
