Residents evacuate due to Altamonte apartment fire

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Some residents in a Seminole county apartment complex were evacuated Friday morning because of a fire.

Firefighters said the blaze happened at about 10 a.m. Friday at the Remington apartment complex on State Road 436 in Altamonte Springs.

Officials said the fire started in the kitchen of one of the units.

"All the apartments were evacuated around the building, and we're in the cleanup mode right now," said Lt. Tod Zellers of the Seminole County Fire Rescue.

Officials said the fire did not go farther than the kitchen.

No one was hurt, and officials are working to find out how it started.
