Rumors revving up about 'Ferrari World' theme park coming to Orlando

Speculation is revving up about a third, full-size theme park that may be coming to Orlando.
"Ferrari World" has the world's largest indoor theme park in Abu Dhabi, and Channel 9’s Jamie Holmes found out that the theme park is expanding to North America.
Ferrari World has the world's fastest roller coaster, hitting speeds of 149 mph.
The coaster snakes around the world's largest indoor amusement park, where visitors can test drive Ferraris in real life or as a simulation.
"I think the odds of Ferrari World coming to Orlando are pretty good. It's a boutique park, so it's not a full-day theme park," Ken Storey of the Orlando Tourism Report said.
Industry analysts said the possible locations are: Las Vegas, Orlando and Mexico, which is a hot spot for fast -car lovers.
"I think the difference though in the Orlando market is we can get families as well. The one opening in Spain is a more family-focused Ferrari World," Storey said.
There is also speculation that Universal Studios would license Ferrari World, which could go on 450 acres of land near International Drive. But that information has not been confirmed.
Josh Wallack, the creator of Skyplex, said he welcomes the competition. Skyplex will become the world's tallest roller coaster on International Drive.
"We would be happy to see a group like that come in and spend hundreds of millions of dollars to build Ferrari World anywhere here in Orlando. (That) would be great," Wallack said.
Wallack and his investors will be spending a half-billion dollars in the city over the next few years.
Wallack said the cost of land in Orlando is cheaper than in Las Vegas, which would be a big lure for a big park.
“Even in the great recession, Orlando only dropped a little bit, where Vegas dipped substantially, 30 percent. So I always believe Orlando to be sort of recession proof," Wallack said.
Ferrari has not replied to Channel 9’s request for comment.
