Safe house accused of victimizing human trafficking victims

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Eyewitness News confronted a local couple accused of victimizing women who had just survived human trafficking.

An investigation accuses the founders of "Out of the Life," a safe house in Seminole County, of victimizing the women taking shelter there.

Channel 9's Kenneth Craig was the only reporter to confront the couple at the center of that investigation.

Organizers admitted to knowing there was ongoing drug use in the safe house.

The organizers said they had nothing to do with it.

They claimed it wasn't the reason they shut down the house about two months ago.

"We would never ever condone that kind of behavior," founder Jesse Maley said.

The Sheriff's Office did not disclose the status of the investigation.
