Sanford police find man's body, vehicle in Lake Monroe

SANFORD, Fla. — A man's body was found Friday night floating in the waters of Lake Monroe, the Sanford Police Department said.

Police officers were sent to East 2nd Street and Elliott Avenue shortly before 9:45 p.m. after someone reported seeing a vehicle plunge into the lake, Sanford police spokesman Ronny Neal said.

Officers and firefighters found the body 40-50 yards offshore and then retrieved it from the water.

The man wasn't publicly identified.

Neal said there was no indication of foul play.

The death continues to be investigated.

No other details were given.
