Sanford woman accused in animal cruelty case

SANFORD, Fla. — A Sanford woman has been arrested, accused in her second case of animal cruelty.

Police said Sherry Arther had 15 cats and dogs inside her Summerlin Street home and the conditions inside were deplorable.

Police got involved when two women hired to clean the home went inside and saw the conditions the animals were living in.

"They went inside and observed the conditions and summoned animal control,” said Sanford police Capt. James McAuliffe.

Officers said the home was a mess and the floors were covered in feces.

All the animals were removed, most taken to an animal shelter.

Arther faces animal cruelty charges in the case, authorities said.
