SeaWorld debuts Kraken virtual reality, fireworks

ORLANDO, Fla. — SeaWorld Orlando is debuting new nighttime events and a virtual reality addition to its Kraken roller coaster this weekend.

The new virtual reality experience, called “Kraken Unleashed,” opened Friday, with guests able to select whether to ride as usual or wear a virtual reality helmet.

All three of Kraken’s 32-passenger trains have been equipped with the virtual reality headsets.

“After providing thousands of imaginative and thrilling experiences on SeaWorld’s first roller coaster, Kraken, we wanted to give our guests something new,” said Brian Morrow, vice president of theme park experience and design for SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment, in a release.

The park also plans to debut its nighttime extravaganza, “Electric Ocean,” Saturday, which includes dancers, DJs and a fireworks show.
