Second person dies following Cocoa-area crash

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol troopers said Tuesday that a second person has died as a result of a crash on State Road 520.

Troopers said a pickup truck traveling eastbound on S.R. 520 Monday morning turned into the path of a westbound vehicle.

According to troopers, the truck rolled over and caught fire.

The car turned on its side and the car's passenger was ejected from the vehicle, troopers said.

Troopers said the driver of the truck died at the scene.

The driver of the car involved, Jarison Rodriguez, 27, was last reported to be in critical condition at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne.

His passenger, Wendymary Artiles, 22, of Apopka was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center where she later died.

Troopers have not identified the driver of the truck.
