Seminole Co. school district agrees to move bus stop after kid robbed

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A Seminole County mother was having a hard time getting a bus stop moved after her son was robbed on his way to school.

His mother said she couldn't get the school district to move the stop somewhere safer until she called Eyewitness News.

The 16-year-old teen was mugged by two people on State Road 46 near Willner Circle in Sanford last Friday.

Since the attack, his mom had been trying to get the district to move the bus stop to a safer location.

The bus stop does not look intimidating in daylight, but before the sun rises, it is pitch black.

His mom wanted it moved 100 yards down the road, in front of Central Florida Regional Hospital, where there are plenty of lights and people.

"You just see what's happening to our kids, and it's not right," said the boy's mom.

A couple of hours after Eyewitness News began asking questions, district leaders sent a letter saying they are more than willing to move the bus stop.

A district spokesperson said they are making the change, they just had to review the police report and inspect the stop first.
