Seminole County opens vaccination site for teachers and law enforcement officers on Monday

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — In Seminole County, a vaccination clinic opened on Monday at the Sanford Civic Center. This vaccination site was set up to make it possible for teachers and law enforcement officers to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Last week, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order making more groups eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Two of those newly eligible groups are K-12 school personnel (all ages) and sworn law enforcement officers (age 50 and older).

To make vaccination scheduling easier for working individuals, the Seminole County Office of Emergency Management is operating this site from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

“We knew teachers and law enforcement, this the split of their shift, so if they are working the evening shift they could come before their shift. If they are getting off the morning shift, they could come over here, so we wanted to make it convenient for those folks,” Alan Harris, Seminole County emergency manager said.
