Sen. Tim Kaine stumps for Hillary Clinton at Orlando rally Sunday

ORLANDO, Fla. — Sen. Tim Kaine appeared at a campaign rally in Orlando Sunday evening.

The Democratic vice presidential candidate spoke to a crowd of nearly 200 supporters for about 45 minutes at the Dover Shores Community Center, urging attendees to vote early and to volunteer with the campaign.

"If Hillary Clinton wins Florida, she's gonna be the next president," Kaine told the energized crowd.

Kaine also brought up the Pulse nightclub massacre and demanded universal background checks for gun sales.

"We don't have to just accept it and say it can't get any better," he said. "We've got to be committed."

Toward the end of the rally, a protester interrupted Kaine's stump speech and was ejected from the rally.

"Have some sympathy," Kaine told the booing crowd. "They've not had a very good week."

The vice presidential hopeful urged his supporters to not grow complacent amid the campaign's recent favorable poll numbers.

"Let's just have this thought for the next 16 days," he said. "I'm the underdog until they call me the winner."

Kaine made a campaign stop at the University of Florida earlier in the afternoon.

The Virginia senator was scheduled to appear at rallies in Miami and West Palm Beach Monday.

Early voting begins in all Central Florida counties Monday. In Sumter County, early voting starts Tuesday.
