LAKELAND, Fla. - Seven employees of a Winn-Dixie in Lakeland have been arrested and charged with fraud, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Polk County sheriff's investigators said managers at the store on Ariana Street discovered cash shortages in October and November.

According to investigators, it was discovered that employees were reusing Coinstar kiosk receipts, which were turned in to cashiers in order to steal cash from the store.

Coinstar kiosks are machines that allow customers to convert coins to a receipt, which is then given to a cashier in exchange for cash.

According to investigators, once a customer turns in a receipt, it is supposed to be marked and put in the cash register drawer.

Investigators said the five adults and two juveniles arrested were using the Coinstar receipts multiple times to steal money.

All seven are charged with obtaining property by fraud. Investigators said all seven confessed to the crimes.
