Sex offender with decades-long rap sheet arrested on child porn charges in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — A registered sex offender who has repeatedly been arrested is facing new child pornography charges, authorities said.

Police said they found inappropriate images on his computer when they went to ask Alfred Joseph Wagner, 79, about his encounter with a child in a park, where he allegedly lured a boy into a bathroom stall.

Wagner was booked into the Orange County Jail on Tuesday.

Wagner's rap sheet dates back to the 1970s, police said.

The most recent incident happened in a bathroom at Blue Jacket Park.

According to the arrest affidavit, Wagner told police he went in to use the bathroom and said he couldn't get the toilet paper out of the dispenser.

"The suspect was in there with his pants down and asked whoever came into the bathroom to give him some toilet paper. When the child ran to the corner and saw that it was a grown man, he left the bathroom and his father later confronted the man," said Michelle Guido of the Orlando Police Department.

Wagner was trespassed from the park after the incident, and because he is a sex offender, police followed up at his home, where they found at least 14 images and a video depicting child porn.

"He is a sexual predator, and he has been committing crimes for at least four decades," Guido said.

According to police, Wagner’s crimes date back to July 1976 in Queens County, New York.

In 1996, Wagner was convicted of exposing himself to three children and giving them pornography at Red Bug Park in Seminole County.

Wagner served nearly three years behind bars and was civically committed to the Jimmy Ryce Facility from 2004 to 2015.

"I'm here just about every day with my daughter. I mean, literally we are steps away from Glenridge Middle School. It's absolutely concerning,” said Baldwin Park resident Tanya Versa.

The child in the latest incident was not physically harmed.
