Police: Father subdues man after catching him allegedly sexually battering young son

HOLLY HILL, Fla. — Police in Daytona Beach arrested an 18-year-old man accused of sexually abusing a young relative early Friday morning.

Raymond Frolander is charged with sexual battery of a victim under 12.

Police said Frolander was engaged in sexual activity with the victim Friday morning when the boy's father walked in the room.

The father, whose name hasn’t been released, called 911 and physically subdued Frolander until police arrived.

“I just walked in on a grown man molesting ...,” the father told 911 dispatchers. "And I got him in a bloody puddle for you, officer. He is knocked out on the floor for you. Send him an ambulance. He's going to need one."

"Were there any weapons involved?" the dispatcher asked.

"My fists and my foot," the father replied. "He's in a fetal position in a puddle of blood on my floor."

When officers got to the apartment, the suspect was on the floor unconscious with several knots on his face and bleeding from the mouth.

During the forensic interview with the victim, the boy told police there was a history of past sexual abuse involving him and Frolander dating back to when he was 8.

Police said Frolander admitted he had a sexual relationship with the victim, saying "I'm guilty" at the end of the interview.

Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood said the boy's father was not charged.

"A father did what a father had to do," said Chitwood.

The father called WFTV's newsroom later Friday night. He said he did what any father would have done.

He is not facing charges, and said the family wants to deal with the situation over the weekend.

The family said they will make a public statement on Monday.
